Connect an AI assistant (MCP)

Work in Pet runs a remote MCP server at https://workinpet.com/mcp. Add it as a custom connector in Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client. No sign-in is needed.

  1. Open your assistant's connector or integration settings.
  2. Add a custom connector with the URL above.
  3. Ask, for example: "Find remote marketing jobs at pet food companies."

Tools and API endpoints

Each MCP tool is also a plain HTTP endpoint that returns JSON.

  • search_jobs · GET /api/v1/jobs: Search open corporate and professional jobs at pet-industry companies on Work in Pet, newest first. Clinical, store, warehouse and other hourly roles are not listed. Every filter is optional.
  • get_job · GET /api/v1/jobs/{id}: Get one job with its full description, pay and apply link. The id is the 8-character code at the end of the job URL; a full job URL also works. Closed jobs answer with status closed.
  • list_companies · GET /api/v1/companies: List the pet-industry companies we track, with open-role counts, most open roles first.
  • get_company · GET /api/v1/companies/{slug}: Get one company: industry, headquarters, size, public hiring numbers and up to 50 open roles.
  • list_categories · GET /api/v1/categories: List the allowed values for the function, industry, seniority and remote filters, with open-role counts.
  • post_job · POST /api/v1/jobs: Post one corporate or professional job for a pet-industry employer that has no applicant tracking system. Only post for an employer that asked you to. It goes live on Work in Pet and Google Jobs after the next daily update when the email domain matches the company website; otherwise a person reviews it first. Employers whose jobs already sync from an ATS are told to post there. Returns a private manage_url for the employer to close the job; give it to them.

Other machine-readable files

  • /llms.txt: what the site is, URL patterns and the main pages.
  • /jobs.rss: the latest 100 roles.
  • /sitemap.xml: every open job and company page. Each job page carries JobPosting structured data.

Fair use

  • Data refreshes once a day. Cache results; there is no need to call more than once a minute.
  • Send people to the job's url or apply_url. Applications go to the employer's own site.
  • Credit Work in Pet with a link when you show our data.
