What we collect

If you use resume matching, we collect your email address, your resume file (or the text you paste), and the file name. We turn the resume text into a list of numbers that describes it, so we can compare it with job descriptions. We also keep a short summary of your experience, whether you turned on weekly job alerts, and which link brought you to resume matching (for example our newsletter).

If you set a job alert or sign in by email, we keep your email address, the alerts you set (the search filters, or a link to your resume match), whether you want our newsletter, and the jobs you save while signed in. We email you only after you confirm your address, at most once a week per alert. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google tells us only your email address and that it is verified. We do not get your Google password, contacts or any other Google data.

If you fill in the employer form, we collect your name, work email, company and the details you send.

We use basic server logs to keep the site running. We do not sell personal data.

Where your data is processed

Work in Pet runs on Cloudflare. Your resume file, its text and the list of numbers are stored and processed on Cloudflare's servers, which act as our hosting provider. To rank jobs by fit, we also send a short excerpt of your resume and a summary of your experience (job title, level, years and skills) to a matching service provider that processes it on our behalf. It does not use your data to train its models. We do not send your resume to any other outside service.

Signing in with LinkedIn and using your LinkedIn profile

On the resume matching page you can sign in with LinkedIn instead of uploading a resume. Sign-in gives us only your name, email address, profile photo and a LinkedIn account number. We use them to check that the profile you paste is yours. We never get your LinkedIn password, we never post for you, and we never see your connections or messages. The sign-in is kept in a cookie for 30 minutes.

When you paste your own LinkedIn profile URL, a data provider fetches your public LinkedIn profile at your request: your headline, summary, location, photo, current and past jobs with dates, education, skills, certifications and languages. We fetch only the one profile address you paste. We never search LinkedIn and never look anyone up by email. We compare the name on that profile with the name from your LinkedIn sign-in. If they do not match, we do not use the profile and we do not keep it. If they match, we show you the profile and ask you to confirm that it is yours before we use it.

We keep the fetched copy of your profile for 30 days, so that a second visit does not fetch it again, and then delete it. We use it only to match you with jobs and to build your matching profile, in the same way as an uploaded resume. The text and summary used for your matches are kept with your other match data until you ask us to delete them. We do not sell your LinkedIn data, we do not use it for outreach, and we never show it publicly. Employers see a summary only if you tick “Let pet companies hiring for roles like mine find me.” To have your LinkedIn data deleted at any time, email privacy@workinpet.com.

Only use your own profile. Uploading a resume or your LinkedIn PDF works just as well.

Service providers that process personal data for us

  • Cloudflare: hosting, database and file storage for the site, your resume and your match data.
  • A matching service provider: ranks jobs by fit from a short excerpt and a summary of your experience.
  • Resend: sends our emails (confirm and sign-in links, job alerts). It receives your email address and the email we send you.
  • Apify (Apify Technologies s.r.o., Czech Republic): retrieves your public LinkedIn profile when you paste your own profile URL. It receives only that URL.

LinkedIn provides the sign-in. Its own privacy policy applies to your LinkedIn account.

Being found by employers

If you tick “Let pet companies hiring for roles like mine find me,” we may show a summary of your experience to pet companies hiring for similar roles, and pass on your email if they want to contact you. If you leave the box unticked, we use your resume only to show you matching jobs.

Your choices

To see, change or delete your data, or to opt out of being found, email privacy@workinpet.com. We act on requests within 30 days.
